A Message fromManchester City Council

As you know things are changing on a daily basis and we have been responding to Government Guidance each day.  Since updating you yesterday on the closure of play areas, we have now also taken the step to close all Park facilities with immediate effect, including sports courts, farm centres, golf, bowls facilities and toilet provision across all our sites.

Parks are open for exercise only, adhering to the advice about social distancing and not being in groups of more than two, unless from same household.

Our priority will now focus on feeding animals and ensuring that the parks and play areas are still inspected, as well as keeping a good eye on our sites.

I have issued additional guidance today to allotment societies, but in summary, we understand that allotments are important for individuals to be able to exercise once a day, but asking that plot holders do only visit for short periods.  All facilities within the allotment sites, such as toilets, kitchens and site shops are now closed.  From tomorrow the Park Teams will be visiting each site to display notices and guidance on all gates.
